Dinner Recipes

In my household, dinner is the most important meal of the day. With busy school and work schedules, it is the only meal my family has together most nights of the week. Because of this, I try to make dinner special, and (hopefully!) many of my dinner recipes reflect this.

Coming together at the dinner table each evening gives my family the chance to reflect on the day. We begin each meal by taking turns saying something we are thankful for. This chance to express gratitude gives us each a moment to find something positive in even the most difficult days.

Some families rarely sit down to meals together because of hectic extracurricular schedules. If this is working for you, that is wonderful.

If not, I’d encourage you to consider making some changes to your evenings. Dinner can be the perfect time to connect as a family, when everyone is free of school and work commitments. The time to start setting the patterns we’d like our children to carry on into adulthood is now.

Note to those who intermittent fast: I typically eat three meals and 1-3 snacks per day. If you eat less frequently, your meals will likely need to be larger than mine are. You may need to include more energy-dense foods if the meal is listed as level 1 (low-calorie).
