Once you try air fryer pierogies, you’ll never want to make them any other way! I’ve always loved Polish food and Eastern European cuisine, so it’s high time I shared the easiest way to cook frozen pierogies. Air frying ensures perfect results every time, whether you prefer them soft or crispy. Grab Mrs T’s or your favorite brand for a quick, fuss-free snack or side.

What are pierogies?
Pierogies are filled dumplings from Central and Eastern Europe, often savory but sometimes sweet. Their unleavened dough, made from flour and water (and sometimes egg), is similar to pasta. Common fillings include mashed potatoes, cheese, onions, and spinach, making them hearty and comforting.
🥟 Air Fryer Pierogies
Place as many pierogies as will fit in a single layer in the air fryer basket and mist them generously with cooking spray. Air fry at 400F (200C) for 12–13 minutes. There is no need to flip them.

If you are using an air fryer oven, the top rack works best.
Cook frozen pierogies to a minimum internal temperature of 165F (74C) using a meat thermometer. Adjust the cooking time as needed to reach your preferred texture, then serve and enjoy.

A printable recipe card is available below. I have tested these instructions in both a smaller air fryer and a Ninja Foodi, but air frying times can vary between brands, so check your food early the first time you try a new recipe.
Is it better to cook pierogies frozen or thawed?
It’s easiest to cook pierogies from frozen because you skip defrosting and they turn out just as delicious. You can also cook thawed pierogies in the air fryer, and the benefit is that the cooking time is shorter, about 8 to 10 minutes for full-size pierogies.
🌡️ How to Reheat Pierogies
Leftover pierogies can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 to 4 days. To reheat them, try one of these methods:
- Microwave on high for 1 to 2 minutes
- Reheat in a little oil in a skillet on the stovetop
- Air fry for 3 to 4 minutes at 400F (200C)
For the best texture, only cook the frozen pierogies that you plan to eat at that meal. Avoid refreezing pierogies once they have been thawed or cooked.
🌭 What to Serve with Pierogies
I love serving pierogies with air fryer kielbasa or precooked brats and roasted vegetables. Italian fennel sausage pairs well too, and fermented red cabbage sauerkraut makes a tangy, flavorful side.
Here are a few more ideas for toppings or dipping sauce for pierogies:
- Garlic butter
- Sour cream
- Plain Greek yogurt
- Mustard
- Ketchup
- Marinara sauce
- Salsa
- Keto cheese sauce
- Fried onions or caramelized onions for air fryer pierogies and onions
- Cheddar cheese
- Your favorite dipping sauce!
