How long to cook lasagna at 350? The baking time for lasagna is 65-70 minutes in an oven set to 350 degrees Fahrenheit (180 degrees Celsius). The lasagna bake time is 50-55 minutes covered with foil, then 15 minutes uncovered to make the cheese nice and melty. Get tips on how long to bake lasagna from frozen, using no boil noodles, using raw meat, and more!
How long to cook lasagna in oven? The lasagna cooking time depends on a variety of factors:
- The size of the lasagna (very large lasagnas take longer to get hot in the middle than small lasagnas)
- Whether the lasagna is frozen or fresh
- The temperature of the oven
Here is a table of lasagna baking times and temperatures. You can use this for your favorite homemade lasagna recipe, or another delicious fresh lasagna (like Costco lasagna from the deli). These cooking times and temps should work for regular-sized lasagnas (in a 7×12 inch to 9×13 inch baking dish).
Lasagna Oven Temp | Lasagna Baking Time* |
---|---|
325F (163C) | 75-90 minutes |
350F (180C) | 65-75 minutes |
375F (190C) | 60-70 minutes |
400F (200C) | 60-70 minutes |
425F (218C) | 40-50 minutes |
Regardless of whether you’re making ground beef lasagna, vegetable lasagna, or your family’s best lasagna recipe, the cooking times should be about the same. That’s because lasagna is considered a casserole dish (AKA mixed dish) that needs to reach a certain safe temp before eating (USDA).
An exception to this is if you try to make lasagna with raw meat. In this case, the lasagna will have an overall longer cooking time. (More on this later!)
⭐ How Long to Bake Lasagna at 350
How long to bake lasagna at 180 Celsius (AKA 350 Fahrenheit)? Here are the step-by-step instructions:
- Preheat the oven to 350F (180C).
- Spray a piece of aluminum foil with cooking oil spray.
- Cover your lasagna with the foil, oil side down. This will help prevent the cheese on the top of the lasagna from sticking to the foil.
- Place the lasagna on a rack 1/3 down from the top of the oven. Bake for 50-55 minutes. Then carefully remove the foil from the lasagna, and bake for 15 minutes more.
- Hot tip! It’s not a bad idea to see how things are coming along after the first 35 minutes, just in case your particular lasagna recipe is a quick cooker.
- Check the middle of the lasagna with a food thermometer to ensure it reached a minimum safe internal temperature of 165F (74C). Add additional cooking time if needed.
- Let the lasagna rest for 15 minutes before cutting and serving.
How long to cook lasagna uncovered at 350?
I don’t recommend cooking lasagna uncovered for the entire cooking time. This can make the lasagna dry out, and the cheese on top may burn. If you’re using uncooked noodles, they may stay hard because they won’t get the moisture they need to cook.
How long to bake lasagna covered at 350?
You can bake lasagna covered for 65-75 minutes at 350F (180C). The disadvantage of leaving the lasagna covered the entire cooking time is the cheese won’t get slightly browned and super melty.
How long do you bake lasagna using raw meat?
Here is a recipe for lasagna made with raw meat that is baked for 90-100 minutes at 350F (180C). The lasagna (which also uses uncooked noodles) is baked for 60 minutes covered, and then 30-40 minutes uncovered.
Please note though that meat is usually precooked in a skillet before assembling lasagna. If you don’t precook and drain the meat, the resulting lasagna may be a little greasy.
How long to bake lasagna at 350 with no boil noodles?
How long do I bake lasagna with uncooked noodles? Bake lasagna with no boil noodles for 65-75 minutes at 350F (180C). Keep the lasagna covered until the final 5-10 minutes of cooking time.
If making lasagna with no boil noodles, remember to use extra sauce in your recipe. The liquid in tomato sauce provides moisture for the noodles, so they’ll be cooked to a perfect al dente.
If the instructions say bake a lasagna at 350 for 1 hour, if I baked two at the same time would the same instructions still apply?
Yes, if you’re oven baking the lasagna and can fit the lasagnas on the same oven rack. However, if you doubled the recipe in a large pan, your baking time may be longer. If air frying, more food also often means a longer cook time.
How do you enhance the taste of lasagna?
A few extra tablespoons of crumbled bacon, cheese mixture, caramelized onion, and fresh herbs like basil leaves or fresh parsley are ways to add more flavor to lasagna. You could also add another tsp or two of Italian seasoning and minced cloves garlic when assembling the lasagna. Black pepper or red pepper flakes can give lasagna recipes a little kick.
😋 Should you bake lasagna covered or uncovered?
The general rule of thumb is to cook lasagna covered, and then uncover the lasagna near the end of cooking time. Covering the lasagna traps the moisture and keeps it from drying out. Uncovering lasagna at the end allows the cheese to get very melty and brown a little.
🥘 How Long to Bake Lasagna at 375
Bake lasagna at 375F for 60-70 minutes. Keep the lasagna covered with foil until the last 10 minutes of cooking time. Allow the lasagna to cool for 15 minutes before cutting and serving.

Do you bake lasagna at 350 or 375?
Lasagna baked at 350 and 375 both turn out well, so which one you choose is a matter of personal preference. Choosing the higher temperature will shorten the cooking time anywhere from 5-15 minutes.

🥶 How Long to Cook Frozen Lasagna at 350
You can cook a single-serve small frozen lasagna in an air fryer oven set preheated to 350F (180C) for 45-60 minutes. Keep the lasagna covered with foil until the last 3-5 minutes of cooking, and use a meat thermometer to check for doneness.
Get more details in my article on microwave meals in the air fryer. These directions should also work in a convection oven.
Keep in mind that air fryer cooking times vary more than differences between oven brands. Check the food early the first time you make a new air fryer recipe so you don’t burn your lasagna.
An air fryer generally won’t fit a large frozen lasagna, so the above directions are for a small (9.5 ounce/269g) lasagna. To cook a large lasagna, you should use your oven.
Bake frozen lasagna in the oven at 350F (180C) for about 90 minutes. Keep the lasagna covered with foil until the last 10-15 minutes of cooking time. Make sure to check the lasagna for doneness with a meat thermometer, to ensure it is cooked through.
️❓️ How do you know when lasagna is done?
Lasagna is done when a meat thermometer stuck into the middle of the lasagna reads at least 165F (74C). Using a meat thermometer is the best way to ensure mixed dishes like lasagna have been cooked properly (USDA). Cooked lasagnas may be bubbling around the edges or have melty cheese, but these visual attributes aren’t good indicators of food safety.
️🌡️ How do you reheat already cooked frozen lasagna?
Defrost one piece of fully cooked freezer lasagna in the microwave for 3-5 minutes. Then cover with foil and bake in an oven at 375F until the lasagna reaches the safe temp of 165F (74C). (Yes, leftover lasagna should be reheated to 165F as well, per the USDA.)
How long can you make lasagna ahead of time?
Lasagna can be made ahead, covered with plastic wrap, and kept in the fridge for up to 24 hours. Note that chilled lasagna may take a little longer to cook than freshly assembled lasagna.
How long can lasagna sit out before baking?
Lasagna and other perishable foods should not sit out at room temperature for more than 1-2 hours. If you can’t get the lasagna in the oven within that timeframe, store it in the refrigerator.

FAQs
How do you cook lasagna noodles before making lasagna?
The best way to cook lasagna noodles is to follow the directions on the package. In general, lasagna noodles cook for 10-12 minutes in a large pot of boiling salted water over medium heat.
How many layers should lasagna have?
Most lasagnas have 3-4 layers. If you do more layers, your lasagna might not fit in the lasagna pan. Two-layer lasagne is also fine, though the pieces may look thin by some standards.
Do you spray the bottom of a pan when making lasagna?
It’s not necessary to spray the bottom of the lasagna pan if you use enough sauce in the bottom of the pan. That said, it doesn’t hurt to use cooking spray on the pan, so you’re welcome to do it if you wish.
Which layer goes down first in lasagna?
The first layer in lasagna should be sauce (e.g., marinara sauce, meat sauce, alfredo, etc.). The sauce helps to keep the lasagna from sticking to the pan.
Should the top layer of lasagna be noodles or sauce?
The top layer of lasagna is usually cheese (e.g., shredded mozzarella cheese and grated Parmesan cheese), with tomato sauce below that. Underneath the sauce is a layer of pasta, and then the lasagna filling (ricotta cheese, veggies, etc.).
Why does my lasagna get watery?
Watery lasagna is usually due to not giving the lasagna a 15-minute rest time after cooking. Another reason is using too many moisture-containing ingredients (like too much sauce). Add a few Tbsp of tomato paste if you need to thicken a thin sauce up.
How Long Should Lasagna Sit Before Being Cut?
My general rule of thumb is to allow lasagna to sit 10-15 minutes before cutting.

💭 Expert Tips from Dietitian Summer Yule
This is a level 3 recipe (weight maintenance and active lifestyles). Lasagna recipes can vary greatly, and that impacts the nutrition info. Some lasagnas are packed with fatty meats and cheeses, and other light lasagnas go heavier on the veggies. In general, your grain, dairy, and protein groups are covered with lasagna. What tends to be lacking in lasagna are low-calorie, high-volume veggies. Fruits and veggies make up half the plate in MyPlate, and many of us should eat more of them. To balance out a lasagna meal, I’d consider adding big side salads. Other non-starchy veggies, such as steamed broccoli, would also be a great choice. Lasagna is typically high in carbs and calories, which is why I’m suggesting some non-starchy veg for balance.
