Here is what you need to make a 5-ingredient cucumber strawberry smoothie:
- 1½ cups frozen strawberries
- 1 medium cucumber (about 1½ cups)
- 1½ frozen bananas, broken into chunks
- 1 cup nonfat yogurt (regular, not Greek varieties)
- ¼ cup frozen raspberries

I prefer regular yogurt here, as Greek yogurt can make the flavor too tart, though it adds protein. Choose plain yogurt for no added sugar or vanilla for extra sweetness.
For best results, use a high-speed blender (such as Vitamix or Blendtec) or large food processor to break down the frozen fruit.
Should I peel cucumber for a smoothie?
I usually skip peeling fruits and vegetables with edible skins, but here I peeled the cucumber. You can skip this step if you don’t mind small green flecks throughout your drink. The flavor will be just as delicious either way.
🥒 How to Make a Strawberry Cucumber Smoothie
Peel the cucumber and trim off both ends. If it contains large seeds, scoop them out with a spoon or melon baller, discarding them or saving them for another use. Chop the peeled cucumber flesh into small pieces.

If the frozen strawberries are very large, consider halving or quartering them. Smaller pieces will blend more easily, ensuring a smoother texture and making it simpler to puree the fruit thoroughly.
Place all ingredients in a food processor or high-speed blender and blend until completely smooth. If the mixture sticks to the sides, pause and scrape them down before continuing. Repeat as needed until the smoothie reaches a perfectly creamy consistency.

Pour the smoothies into tall glasses and add your preferred toppings. Serve immediately before they start to melt. For easier sipping, use a wide straw.

Any leftovers can be poured into popsicle molds and frozen for a cool, refreshing treat to enjoy another time.

I like to add spinach and chia seeds to my smoothies. Like you, I’m partial to the strawberry/banana combo with yogurt, but I put a little buttermilk and almond milk in it. I love the idea of cucumber. I’m going to have to try this!
